Schools Study Earthquakes Project Partners Meeting in Naples


On November 15th and 16th 2016 a meeting has been carried out in the framework of the activities of the Erasmus+ project Schools Study Earthquakes. The meeting has been held in Città della Scienza, the headquarter of Fondazione Idis, the Italian partner of the SSE’s consortium.
Below is a brief description of the agenda of the activities carried out during the meeting.
In the morning of Tuesday 15th, after an introduction by the representatives of Fondazione Idis, the representatives of each partner organization have described the activities carried so far in their own countries in the framework of the project.
Then, under the guidance of the representatives of National Observatory of the Athens, it has been discussed the updating of the implementation guide of the project.
In the afternoon of Tuesday 15th it has been carried out a workshop addressed both to the partners and to schools teachers who have been invited by Fondazione Idis to attend it.
In particular Georgios Mavromanolakis from Ellinogermaniki Agogi has illustrated some multimedia educational products developed by his organization in the framework of the project while Gerasimios Chouliaras from National Observatory of the Athens has showed the working of the TC1 seismometers adopted by the project consortium and of the software for their management.
The workshop has been attended by 29 teachers at all levels.


Joint Staff Training in Athens of the "Schools Study Earthquakes" project


From May 30 to June 3, 2016 a joint staff training of the „Schools Study Earthquakes” (SSE) project was held in Athens. The training took place in the headquarters of National Observatory of Athens - Project coordinator for SSE and the participants were official representatives of the whole SSE consortium, comprising partners from Bulgaria, Cyprus, Greece, Italy and Turkey.

The program was very intensive and the participants learned how to install a seismometer and read a seismogram, what an inquiry-based science education is and how to implement best practices in training and create successful lesson plans for in school implementation. All partners took active part in the training and exchanged useful information for the next stages of the projects. SSE kick-off meeting


On November 9-10, 2015 a kick-off meeting of the Erasmus+ project „Schools Study Earthquakes” (SSE) was held in Athens. Representatives of all project partners from Greece, Cyprus, Italy, Turkey and Bulgaria participated in the meeting. The meeting was held in the headquarters of National Observatory of Athens - Project coordinator for SSE.

The agenda of the meeting included the activities and outputs that need to be covered by the project and the short-term steps for each partner. The partners also discussed some project management and financial issues and made a preliminary plan prioritizing activities and objectives for the next 12 months of the project. The meeting was very constructive and all partners shared valuable ideas and good practices regarding working with schools and dealing with educational innovations.
